If you are looking for an inexpensive table saw, you should check out the Ambassador series from Harvey. There are several options in this line, including Miter gauges, GYRO AIR dust processors, and more.
Ambassador series
The Harvey Ambassador C14 Bandsaw is one of the best woodworking machines on the market. It features a super slick steel frame, a high-performance 3 HP motor and a pair of ball-bearing guides. Its gizmo worthy fences are also top notch thanks to a pair of chromed steel guides. You can even fit the whole lot in a small shed!
Not only does the crows foot come with a built-in dust port, it comes with a miter gauge to boot. Aside from the usual suspects, this saw comes with an impressive 50 inch rip capacity. That’s a big deal in a home shop. And it’s not just us homeowners looking to cut our own lumber. In fact, Harvey Industries is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial tools. Their machines are sold in retail and commercial establishments alike. So if you’re in the market for a new power tool, give the gents a call! Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a full time professional, you’re bound to find a machine that’s right for you.
GYRO AIR dust processors
The Gyro Air G700 is a new take on a cyclone dust collector. It features an innovative design, which keeps your work area cleaner. Plus, it’s built to last. For example, it’s made from 100% rustproof steel.
The G700 also boasts a two-hp Siemens variable-speed motor. This powerplant can be used for servicing one machine at a time, or two machines at once. In addition, it comes with a flexible hose and hose adapters for pre-existing ductwork. And, it can be moved around, thanks to the machine’s wheels.
Another great feature is the recirculator. Unlike standard air handling systems that force dust into the walls of your collection bags, the Gyro uses a recirculator to filter and purify your air.
The Gyro AIR G700 also has a large 32-gallon bin, which is a decent size for the task at hand. Also, it has a nice touch: it automatically turns off when it’s full. With a price tag of $4245 (yes, that’s the bare minimum), the G700 is a bargain.
Table saws
Table saws are an ideal solution for a wide variety of woodworking tasks. From crosscuts across grain to dado blading, you can make fast, clean cuts with one of these versatile machines. However, they do create a lot of dust. So, it’s important to have a good table saw dust collection system to keep your workspace clean.
Depending on your needs, you’ll find table saws in many sizes. There are portable, contractor, and even sliding saws. In addition to these, there are also cordless versions. If you aren’t sure what you need, you can talk with a professional. They’ll walk you through the best practices for operating a table saw.
You’ll also notice that most table saws have a dust port. This lets you connect your shop vac. But, you need to check that it’s compatible with the equipment you plan to use.
Some tables come with automatic shutoff switches. This helps reduce the risk of catastrophic injuries. A SawStop feature is also available to stop the blade in five milliseconds.
Miter gauges
If you have a Harvey table saw and are in the market for a miter gauge, there are a number of good options. You will need a small screwdriver to make the adjustment, though. In addition, the fence is not micro adjustable, and there is no lockout feature.
Incra and Kreg are both popular brands for their good quality and value. They both have aluminum fences and steel protractor heads. The difference is the length of the bar and the degree of resolution.
The Incras 3000SE has a 20-1/4″ miter bar and 364 positive stops. It has a lockout feature for the positive stop ball. It also has interlocking mechanisms for half-degree resolution. This makes it a good choice for precision work.
For the price, the Craftsman MC-100 is a solid no-frills gauge. It has a 1/10 degree resolution and an aluminum fence. It’s a great upgrade over the stock gauge.
Harvey’s COMPASS MG-36 is an excellent option, but it isn’t in the plus-ultra class. Compared to other gauges in the test, it had the highest crosscut capacity.
